About “Dear PR Flack”

Dear PR Flack started as a Twitter meme in September 2008 — a way for bloggers to blow off steam when bad pitches wasted our time. People kept saying “You should blog these!” and so being incredibly susceptible to peer pressure, we dove right in.

We really love what PR reps do when they do it right. Some of our best friends — even some contributors to this blog — work full-time in public relations/marketing, and it kills us to see shoddy work give the entire profession a bad name.

And we wholeheartedly agree that there are idiots in every field. Writers who randomize reps hurt journalistic cred just as bad PR hurts clients. (You may want to follow our Twitter-pal @DearMediaHack if you crave balance.)
